(1873) Divisional Head: Strategy Management - ExMan

The main purpose of this position is to lead and oversee the Strategy Management Division by ensuring effective, integrated strategy management processes and practices within the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

• Oversee the end-to-end strategy management process in the SARB, including establishing processes such as strategic insights; strategy formulation; strategy execution enablement; portfolio, programme and project management oversight; strategy performance measurement; and strategy communication.
• Further develop and embed emerging strategy capabilities in the SARB, such as enterprise change management, strategy execution capabilities and strategy training.
• Define and implement boundaries and integration points across the various Strategy Management Office (SMO) functions as they relate to the end-to-end strategy management process.
• Communicate the vision and strategic goals of the SMO in line with the SARB’s strategy, ensuring a common understanding among the SMO and business stakeholders of the value proposition of the SMO.
• Oversee the development of functional plans, policies, systems, services and products across the SMO value chain.
• Promote and embed an effective business partnering model to enable effective strategy management within the business.
• Oversee the maturing of the strategy management frameworks, practices, processes, standards, methods and tools against a fit-for-purpose maturity model.
• Oversee the reporting processes of the SMO and ensure effective reporting at departmental, strategic focus area (SFA), SARB, Board of Directors (Board) and annual report level.
• Manage strategic relations with key stakeholders, both within and external to the SARB, specifically the Governors’ Executive Committee (GEC), the Management Committee (Manco), the Board, the Cross-Departmental Research Committee, policy committees and other central banks.
• Create a performance culture in the SMO and define performance expectations, including tracking and monitoring specific measurable metrics.
• Take accountability for talent management in the SMO by identifying appropriate talent for key positions, onboarding, succession management and the retention of critical talent.
