Job description
Role Description The ABNORMAL TRANSPORT CONTROLLER is a full-time, on-site role based in JHB Benoni. This position oversees the planning, coordination, and monitoring of abnormal and oversized cargo movements from ports and suppliers to clients. Daily tasks include scheduling transport, liaising with carriers and logistics partners, ensuring compliance with transport regulations, and updating internal teams on shipment progress and any delays. The role requires maintaining accurate transport documentation, permit application for various provinces, tracking loads, resolving issues that arise during transit, and optimizing routes and timelines to reduce risk and costs. The ABNORMAL TRANSPORT CONTROLLER works closely with the import, warehouse, and customer service teams to ensure that high-value machines/ units arrive safely, on time, and in good condition.
Qualifications
. Experience in transport control, logistics coordination, or supply chain operations, preferably involving abnormal or oversized loads.
. Knowledge of transport regulations, safety standards, and documentation requirements for abnormal cargo/ permit application for various provinces
. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail in planning routes and schedules.
. Effective communication skills for working with carriers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
. Proficiency with logistics or transport management systems and basic computer literacy (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
. Ability to analyze issues, make sound decisions under pressure, and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
. Relevant qualification or training in logistics, supply chain, or transport management is beneficial.
Pay: R18 000,00 - R25 000,00 per month
