Accountant (5+ Years Experience)

Tundra Tax and Accounting is seeking an accounting professional to join our team. This role is ideal for a candidate who is comfortable working in a developing environment and eager to contribute to improving systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the accounting function for an assigned portfolio of clients.
• Manage and supervise a team, allocating and reviewing work, providing guidance where required, and ensuring all accounting work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with engagement requirements.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.
• Manage and process payroll, including salary calculations, statutory deductions, and the timely submission of payroll-related returns.
• Prepare and submit VAT201 returns.
• Work closely with the tax team to ensure all accounting inputs for tax compliance and statutory submissions are accurate and complete.
• Maintain organised financial records and working papers to ensure strong audit trails and compliance with company policies.
• Utilise accounting systems effectively and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Experience managing an accounting team and coordinating workflow across multiple clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional registration with SAIPA or SAICA is advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel, CaseWare) and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
• A proactive, improvement-focused mindset with a willingness to take initiative.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
