Job Description
Responsible for the accounting function for an entity in the ExSA team from cash book through to financial statements and reporting to management and various regulators.Key responsibilities
The accounting function for the entity comprises:
- Preparation of cash book entries and payments, if required
- Reviewing of payments
- Reviewing cash book entries and receipt of fee income
- Preparing monthly journal entries
- Preparing and reviewing of credit card journals and entries
- Prepare, process, and manage purchase invoices through the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals, and timely payment.
- Prepare payment batches and supporting documentation and facilitate the progression of approved invoices through to payment execution.
- Perform banking administration, including beneficiary maintenance, banking profile management, user access controls, and liaison with banking institutions.
- Monitor bank accounts, perform reconciliations, resolve payment and banking queries, and support cash flow management and payment planning.
Reporting is required as follows:
Management information (for company and used for group consolidated reporting)
- Monthly preparation of AFS, management income statement
- Monthly analysis of income (versus budget and versus assets)
- Monthly capital adequacy monitoring for reporting to MD
- Regulatory reporting
- Quarterly and annual reporting
- Any other ad hoc regulatory reporting requirements and assistance
- Tax reporting of the different entities (Namibia, Botswana)
- Returns (and payments) for VAT (pending amendments), income tax, WHT
- Tax follow ups with authorities
Board
- Preparation of financial reports for the directors’ meeting Skills and competencies
- Ability to pay attention to detail and to quickly detect errors and resolve them
- Aptitude for numbers and routine work
- Capable of working unassisted and seeing tasks through to successful completion
- An inherent inclination to closely follow rules and procedures
- Fit easily into an energetic, hardworking, demanding and team orientated environment
- Good communication
Technical requirements
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel to an intermediate to advanced level
- Working experience with Business Central accounting system is highly preferred Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (BCom, BAccSc, BCompt or relevant)
- Financial services experience preferred, preferably 2-4 years post qualification Location
