Accountant

Brief Description:

We are working with a well-established, multi-entity group seeking a commercially minded Accountant to join one of their busy, high-turnover restaurant operations. This role sits at the heart of the business, supporting a fast-moving environment where strong financial governance is critical. As the on-site finance lead, you will take ownership of financial controls, ensuring reporting accuracy and adherence to group standards. You will partner closely with operational teams to monitor costs, oversee stock processes, and strengthen cash handling practices playing a key role in maintaining financial discipline across the business.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who is comfortable being close to operations visible, involved, and proactive. You’ll need to be highly organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing competing demands in a pressured, high-energy setting.

Job Description:

• Assist with monthly and year-end close processes
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including analysis of food cost, labour cost, and profitability
• Manage stock control: counts, reconciliations, and variance investigations
• Oversee suppliers: check invoices, reconcile accounts, process payments, and negotiate costs
• Perform daily cash and bank reconciliations across POS and deposits
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support margin improvement initiatives
• Maintain financial records, including creditors, debtors, and compliance requirements
• Partner with operations, providing financial insights for daily decision-making
• Enforce strong controls across cash, stock, and operational processes
• Ensure accuracy across POS, stock, and accounting systems, and improve processes where needed

Skills & Experience:

• Full Accounting function
• Food and beverage industry experience (non-negotiable)

Qualification:

• Finance-related degree

R600 000 - R720 000
