As the Group continues to expand, we are seeking a capable Accountant who is ready to take greater ownership and develop broader commercial experience.

About the Role

This role is suited to a proactive, hands-on Accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to develop broader commercial experience across a diversified Group.

The successful candidate will take ownership of month-end accounting, management reporting, reconciliations, statutory compliance and financial controls across multiple entities. They will also support junior finance team members and provide reliable financial information to assist management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting and Month End Reporting

• Prepare and process accounting records through to trial balance.

• Complete general ledger reconciliations and month-end close activities accurately and on time.

• Review monthly accounts, investigate discrepancies and provide structured feedback.

• Prepare monthly management reporting packs and supporting schedules.

• Analyse income statement variances and explain the factors driving performance.

Cash Flow Tax and Compliance

• Support cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting across Group entities.

• Prepare and submit accurate VAT201 and EMP201 returns within the required deadlines.

• Verify supporting documents and co-release approved payments in line with Group controls.

Financial Controls and Team Support

• Review and validate accounting entries prepared by junior finance team members.

• Identify incomplete information, unusual transactions and control weaknesses and ensure that they are addressed.

• Help strengthen accounting processes, reconciliations and internal controls.

• Identify financial risks and unusual trends and escalate them with practical recommendations.

• Provide clear financial information that supports sound management decisions.

• Perform ad hoc accounting, reconciliation and reporting duties across the Group.

Requirements

Please apply only if you meet all the following minimum requirements:

• Completed BCom Accounting degree or equivalent accounting qualification;

• At least 3-5 years hands-on experience with trial balance, general-ledger reconciliations, month-end reporting, VAT and management accounts;

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; and

• Ability to work full-time from our offices in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs.

Advantageous Experience

• Exposure to financial services, property, hospitality or other multi-industry operations; and

• Experience using Sage 300 Accpac or a comparable accounting system.

• Work independently while contributing positively to the Finance team; and

• Manage competing priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
