Job description
Introduction
An established Accounting and Tax practice in Queensburgh, Durban is seeking an
appropriately qualified and experienced office based Accountant to join our team on a permanent basis.
Qualifications
Matric
Diploma/Degree
in Accounting/Tax (Advantage) or currently studying towards a Diploma/ Degree
in Accounting/Tax
Completed SAIPA/ SAICA articles
Valid driver’s license with own reliable vehicle
Experience and Knowledge:
5 years+ recent experience in an Accounting/ Auditing practice
Thorough understanding of VAT, Employee Costs, Income Tax
Dealing with SARS Audits and Reviews
Dealing with Department of Labour/ COIDA Audits
Ability to work within a team and experience of supervising and managing a team of 8 - 10 staff
Thorough understanding of SARS E-filing and SARS Easy-file
Drafting Management Accounts and Annual Financial Statements on Caseware/ Draftworx and Excel
Skills and Competencies required:
Strong analytical skills
Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision
MS Office with solid excel skills
SAGE Pastel/ Evolution/ Partner
VIP Payroll/ SAGE Payroll
Ability to manage changing priorities and competing demands
Accuracy and attention to detail
Roles and Responsibilities:
Supervise Junior Clerks and Data Capturers
Prepare/Review monthly Salary and Wages schedules
Prepare/Review monthly VAT reports
Prepare/Review monthly Management Accounts
Compile/Review supporting documentation and schedules required for external audits and working paper files for Management Accounts/ Annual Financial Statements
Review Trial Balances and General Ledgers
Prepare/ Review Annual Financial Statements for Sole Proprietor’s, Close Corporations, Trusts, Companies, and Individuals
Prepare/Review/ Submit Income Tax returns for Sole Proprietor’s, Close Corporations,
Trusts, Companies, and Individuals
Assisting with SARS VAT registrations, SARS PAYE-SDL-UIF registrations, SARS Customs Importers/Exporters/ Bonded Codes registrations, U-filing registrations, COIDA registrations
Prepare/Review Budgeted Cash Flows requested by clients
Prepare Business Plans for clients
Reviewing/ preparing monthly/ Year-end journals for processing
