Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their Port Elizabeth team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and draft annual financial statements for a diverse portfolio of clients.
• Process and review client accounting records, including receipts, sales invoices, and purchase invoices.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain cash control accounts.
• Process and reconcile petty cash transactions.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and calculate depreciation.
• Prepare and process month-end and year-end journal entries.
• Reconcile debtors and creditors accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Process accruals, provisions, prepayments, and other adjusting journal entries.
• Analyze trial balances, identify errors, and discuss financial results with clients.
• Assist with compilation engagements and independent review assignments.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and tax requirements.
• Utilize cloud-based accounting systems, including Xero, to prepare accurate financial records and reports.

Requirements:

• Grade 12.
• BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' experience drafting Annual Financial Statements within an Accounting Firm environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Xero Certification preferred.
• CaseWare experience advantageous.
• Experience with Compilation Engagements and Independent Reviews will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and client communication skills.
