A leading Student Accommodation Property Company is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join its Finance team based in Pretoria.

About The Role As the Accountant, you will be responsible for the full accounting function across a portfolio of student accommodation properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance and financial controls.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, Asset Managers and Property Management team, you will prepare monthly management accounts, perform reconciliations, manage fixed assets, assist with budgeting and ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation and company policies.

Experience within Property Management, Student Accommodation or Commercial Property will be highly advantageous.

POSITION INFO: Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting Prepare monthly management accounts Perform month-end and year-end accounting processes Process and review journals Prepare balance sheet reconciliations Reconcile general ledger accounts Analyse financial results and investigate variances Maintain the fixed asset register Property Accounting Prepare property income and expenditure reports Reconcile rental income and tenant accounts Monitor operating expenses Process accruals and prepayments Assist with utility recoveries Support property financial reporting Work closely with Property and Asset Managers Budgeting & Forecasting Assist with annual budgets Prepare financial forecasts Analyse budget variances Monitor expenditure Support CAPEX and OPEX reporting Provide financial insights to management Financial Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports Assist with board reporting Prepare management reports Support external reporting requirements Analyse financial performance Ensure reporting accuracy Compliance & Audit Assist with external audits Prepare audit schedules Ensure IFRS compliance Assist with tax submissions Ensure compliance with company financial controls Maintain accurate accounting records Cash Flow & Reconciliations Bank reconciliations Balance sheet reconciliations Intercompany reconciliations Cash flow monitoring General ledger reconciliations Accounts reconciliations Systems & Process Improvement Work on MDA \/ MRI Property Central Improve accounting processes Assist with financial system enhancements Ensure data integrity Support continuous process improvement initiatives Minimum Requirements BCom Accounting Degree Completed SAICA Articles (Essential) Minimum 3-5 years' post-articles accounting experience Experience within Property Management, Commercial Property or Student Accommodation preferred Experience with MDA \/ MRI Property Central (Highly Advantageous) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Strong knowledge of IFRS Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills High attention to detail Excellent communication skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Highly Advantageous Student Accommodation Property Management Commercial Property Property Accounting Asset Management MDA Property Management System MRI Property Central IFRS SAICA CaseWare SAP Budgeting Forecasting Financial Reporting Audit Tax Fixed Assets Cash Flow Management Management Accounts Financial Analysis Key Skills Accountant Property Accountant Financial Accountant Management Accountant SAICA Articles Property Management Student Accommodation Commercial Property MDA MRI Property Central Financial Reporting General Ledger Balance Sheet Reconciliations Bank Reconciliations Budgeting Forecasting Cash Flow IFRS Fixed Assets Audit Preparation Financial Analysis Advanced Excel Month-End Reporting Year-End Reporting Why Join This Opportunity?
