Accountant – Manufacturing & Compliance

About the Role

Zizwe Advanced Materials is seeking a capable and hands-on Accountant to take responsibility for the company’s accounting, manufacturing financial controls and selected compliance functions.

This position requires someone who is comfortable working independently, taking ownership of processes and working closely with operational and manufacturing teams.

Practical experience with SYSPRO will be an advantage. The successful candidate must have experience working in a manufacturing environment, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), inventory, costing and production-related transactions within SYSPRO.

The role will also include responsibility for aspects of the company’s FIC, KYC and related compliance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial processing for the business.
• Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain appropriate financial controls.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Maintain accurate inventory and manufacturing accounting records.
• Monitor raw materials, work in progress and finished goods.
• Manage and review manufacturing costing within SYSPRO.
• Maintain and review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated product costs.
• Review standard versus actual manufacturing costs and investigate material variances.
• Assist operational teams with product costing and gross profit analysis.
• Ensure appropriate financial controls over stock movements, production and inventory adjustments.
• Support stock counts and reconciliation of physical stock to SYSPRO.
• Assist with the development and improvement of accounting and ERP processes.
• Maintain and administer relevant KYC and FIC compliance processes.
• Assist with customer and supplier due diligence and onboarding.
• Maintain compliance documentation and supporting records.
• Monitor expiry dates and validity of required supplier, customer and company compliance documentation.
• Assist management with compliance reporting and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with auditors, financial institutions, customers, suppliers and external professional advisers where required.
• Support annual audits and provide supporting schedules and documentation.
• Assist with tax, VAT and statutory reporting requirements.
• Perform other financial, administrative and compliance responsibilities appropriate to the role.

Minimum Requirements

• BCom Accounting, BCom Financial Accounting or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Relevant accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or processing environment.
• Strong practical SYSPRO experience
• Experience working with SYSPRO manufacturing functionality, Bills of Materials, inventory and costing.
• Good understanding of manufacturing accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of FIC, KYC and customer/supplier due diligence requirements.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, budgeting and management reporting.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to manufacturing or operational facilities when required.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience within the precious metals, metals, minerals, refining, beneficiation, chemicals or advanced materials industries.
• Knowledge of metal accounting, including metal balances, recoveries, inventory and reconciliation.
• Experience with production costing and product margin analysis.
• Experience implementing or improving SYSPRO processes within a manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance applicable to precious metals or regulated industries.
• Experience with internal or external audits.

• Remuneration

Up to R45,000 Cost to Company per month, depending on experience, qualifications and suitability for the role.
