Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in compliance with South Africa and IFRS.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and petty cash.
- Coordinate with auditors for annual statutory audits and internal control reviews.
- Ensure timely filing of all tax returns: VAT, Corporate Income Tax, WHT, Social Tax, Land/Property Tax, etc\.
- Manage VAT refund processes and reconcile tax ledgers.
- Liaise with tax authorities during inspections and respond to queries.
- Monitor changes in local accounting/tax laws and implement updates proactively.
- Support budgeting and financial planning aligned with HQ requirements.
- Implement and strengthen internal financial controls.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience in South Africa, with in-depth knowledge of local tax/accounting laws.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Analytical mindset, high accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Fluent English proficiency for reporting to HQ.
