About Horizon UK Tax Solutions
Horizon UK Tax Solutions is a boutique international tax advisory and accounting firm. We help expats, non-residents, international entrepreneurs, US–UK dual filers, non-resident landlords, and high-net-worth families navigate cross-border UK tax with clarity and confidence. Our clients come to us for specialist expertise, fixed fees agreed upfront, and direct access to a Chartered Tax Adviser with Big Four experience. As we grow, we are building a small, high-calibre team to deliver that same standard of advice at scale.
The Role
We are looking for a UK-qualified accountant with genuine UK tax experience to prepare and manage client work across our core services: UK Self Assessment, residency and non-dom planning, expat and relocation advisory, US–UK dual-filer support, and non-resident landlord and property tax. You will work directly with the founder, own a portfolio of client compliance from start to finish, and help clients understand their position in plain, reassuring language.
This is a remote role based in South Africa. You will align your working day with UK business hours so client deadlines, filing dates, and queries are handled promptly and in real time.
What You'll Do

- Handle residency & non-dom work apply the Statutory Residence Test, support non-dom and FIG (4-year regime) analysis, and help clients plan around residency and relocation.
- Support cross-border cases assist with US–UK dual-filer matters, including treaty positions and foreign tax credits, in coordination with the founder.
- Manage property tax manage non-resident landlord filings, rental income, and capital gains for UK property held by non-residents.
- Run client compliance own a portfolio of clients end to end — gathering information, preparing computations, meeting deadlines, and keeping clients informed.

- Maintain accuracy keep client records, workpapers, and filings accurate, organised, and compliant with HMRC requirements and deadlines.
- Stay up to date stay current with UK tax legislation, HMRC guidance, and Budget changes relevant to expats and non-residents.
Essential Requirements
- UK qualification: a recognised UK accountancy or tax qualification — ACCA, ACA (ICAEW), CTA or ATT (CIOT). Finalists with strong relevant experience will be considered.
- UK tax experience: demonstrable hands-on experience preparing UK personal tax returns and dealing with HMRC — this is non-negotiable for the role.
- Cross-border knowledge: familiarity with at least some of: residency/SRT, non-dom, expat, US–UK, or non-resident property tax.
- Communication: excellent written and spoken English and the ability to explain complex tax matters simply to non-specialist clients.
- Self-management: meticulous, deadline-driven, and comfortable owning your own client portfolio in a remote setup with minimal supervision.
- Setup: a stable, high-speed internet connection, a secure home working setup, and availability that overlaps UK business hours.
Desirable
- Experience in a UK accountancy or tax practice, or serving UK clients remotely.
- Working knowledge of UK tax-return and practice software (e.g. TaxCalc, Xero, IRIS, or similar).
- Exposure to high-net-worth or internationally mobile clients.
- Understanding of UK corporate tax, payroll/PAYE, or VAT to support the firm's business clients.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary: R60,000 – R100,000 per month, based on qualifications and experience.
- Fully remote: work from anywhere in South Africa, no commute.
- Interesting work: a varied portfolio of genuinely interesting cross-border cases — not repetitive volume work.
- Direct access & growth: direct mentorship from a Chartered Tax Adviser and a real say in how the firm grows.
Pay: R60 000,00 - R100 000,00 per month
