Accountant

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting functions across our group companies and selected related entities. This is a full-time, in-office position. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable across group companies.
• Prepare and submit monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage VAT, PAYE, and other statutory submissions via SARS eFiling.
• Maintain accurate records and reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Prepare year-end schedules and liaise with external auditors.
• Manage multi-entity bookkeeping within Xero, including intercompany transactions.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and process depreciation entries.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation and filing deadlines.
• Provide accounting and financial consulting support to Bishop Fraser clients, including bookkeeping reviews, tax query assistance, and financial reporting guidance.
• Liaise professionally with clients to understand their needs and deliver accurate, timely accounting advice.
• Assist clients with Xero setup, troubleshooting, and best-practice adoption where required.

Requirements:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance (BCom or equivalent).
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
• Proficient in Xero — certification is advantageous.
• Proven experience with SARS eFiling (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
• Strong understanding of South African tax legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience working across multiple entities or group structures.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
