ACCOUNTANT – SOUTH AFRICA (GAUTENG)

 

JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsible to provide support to the South African finance department by managing the full accounting function in line with local statutory and tax requirements.

• Process journal entries to accurately record company transactions using relevant accounting software.
• Maintain accounts receivable and generate invoices in line with South African requirements.
• Manage accounts payable and reconciliations.
• Assist with examining costs, expense claims and SARS-compliant expense documentation.
• Maintain correct financial data in the accounting system for quick access as needed.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly management reports.
• Assist senior accountants and the finance manager with monthly/annual closings and audits.
• Assist with additional accounting projects.
• Process financial statements, balance sheets and income statements.

 

Qualifications

 

• BSc/Ba in accounting, finance or relevant field.
• Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required
• Proven experience as an accountant or junior accountant in South Africa.
• Excellent organizing abilities.
• Great attention to detail.
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
• Good understanding of South African accounting, tax (VAT, PAYE/EMP201) and financial reporting principles and practices, including IFRS for SMEs.
