Job description

Job Title: Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper

Location: Brackenfell (with travel to the Milnerton branch as required)

Position Type: Fixed-term maternity cover contract (4 months)

Start Date: 1 October 2026

About the Role

Lindsay Scott Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our finance team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions while ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Process monthly payroll, including payroll journals and reconciliations
Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
Perform bank reconciliations
Process journals and month-end entries
Reconcile balance sheet accounts
Maintain the fixed asset register
Calculate leave provisions
Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Prepare monthly management accounts
Prepare payroll-related statutory returns, including EMP201, EMP501, UIF and COIDA administration
Assist with audits and year-end financial processes
Provide ad-hoc financial support to management
Suppliers
Customers

Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance
3 to 5 years accounting experience
Strong understanding of VAT and payroll
Experience with Sage Business Cloud Accounting (advantageous)
Experience with SimplePay (advantageous)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
