Accountant

Position Overview

My Client, a thriving financial consultancy, seeks a dynamic qualified accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will bring a strong academic foundation with a BCom degree and practical expertise gained through completed articles and post-article practice. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory requirements and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. The Accountant will work closely with management, auditors and other stakeholders to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

• BCom Degree in Accounting/Finance, non-negotiable
• Completed Articles (SAICA/SAIPA or equivalent), non-negotiable
• Post-article experience in a similar accounting role, 5 years essential
• Exposure to diverse industries or multi-entity environments
• Knowledge of IFRS and local reporting standards
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and standards
• Proficiency in preparing financial statements and management reports
• Solid understanding and working knowledge of taxation, compliance and regulatory requirements
• Experience with accounting software packages

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review and finalise monthly and annual financial statements
• Manage reconciliations, trial balance and general ledger accuracy
• Oversee tax submissions, including VAT, PAYE and corporate tax compliance
• Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements
• Provide financial insights and reports to support management decision-making
• Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors when required
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies
