Accountant/Bookkeeper

Location: Cape Town CBD - Excel ADVANCE or SUPER USER A MUST

Salary: R35 000 – R45 000 p.m.

We are a leading debt collecting company in the financial services sector based in Cape Town CBD. We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper.

Key Responsibilities

· Full bookkeeping function up to trial balance

· Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

· Process bank reconciliations, cashbooks, and journals

· Loading of payments on banking platform for authorization

· Preparing pay over schedules to clients

· Allocating payments to internal system for customers

· Verification of accounts payable invoices

· Preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory returns

· Assist with monthly management accounts

· Support annual audit process with external auditors

· Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards

· Liaise with external stakeholders (auditors, SARS, suppliers, clients)

· Any other ad hoc duties that may arise.

Requirements

· A relevant Finance/Accounting qualification (Diploma or Degree advantageous)

· Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and legislation

· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Pastel, Sage, QuickBooks) and MS Excel

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
