Accountant/Bookkeeper

We are a well-established, accounting and auditing firm, in the Northern Suburbs of Pretoria and we are looking for a person to fill a full-time position 1 September 2026.

The position entails:

- Full bookkeeping to trial balance;

- Bank, investment, long-term loan (bond and installment sale agreements) debtor and creditor reconciliations;

- Month-end and year-end procedures and management accounts;

- Liaising with clients (management and otherwise) regarding their day-to-day financial queries;

- Liaising with J&M management and co-workers ……..

- Experience using - Sage, Pastel and QuickBooks (online and desk-top) accounting processing from cashbook to trial balance;

- Basic Xero package knowledge;

- VAT calculations and the completion of VAT 201 returns (including pushing SARS payment to the necessary banks). Manage VAT reviews / audits;

- Onboarding new client books and setting up takeover balances;

- certain administrative duties (answering of phone and reception).

The successful applicant:

- Must be proficient in English and Afrikaans;

- Must have good communication skills, written and verbal, and pay strong attention to detail;

- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines;

- Must have at least 5-10 years’ experience in practice;

- Must have knowledge of tax compliance and SARS e-filing;

- Must be computer literate, including being proficient in Word and Excel;

- Greatsoft program knowledge;

- Must have own, reliable, transport and a valid SA driver’s license; and

Salary – between R20 000 and R25 000 per month over 12 months (determined by the level of experience of the applicant) + employer contributions to a Pension fund + reimbursement of all travelling at SARS tax-free rates per kilometer.
