Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to join our dynamic retail operations team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial administration, supporting store operations, and maintaining compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Administration
- Process invoices, credit notes, and supplier reconciliations
- Capture and reconcile daily cash, card, and EFT transactions
- Maintain accurate records of petty cash and expense claims
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Prepare supplier payments and ensure timely settlement
- Assist with monthly statements and debtors’ reconciliations
Reporting & Compliance
- Support month-end closing procedures and assist with audit requirements
- Ensure compliance with VAT, tax, and company financial policies
Operational Support
- Liaise with store managers and suppliers to resolve account queries
- Provide administrative support to the finance team and retail operations
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Accounting
- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting/Finance (advantageous)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel essential) and accounting software (e.g., Pastel, Sage, or similar)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accounts/finance role, preferably in retail
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure
- Knowledge of VAT, reconciliations, and general accounting principles
