Job role: Acute Care Unit (ACU) Doctor

Nauru Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Acute Care Unit (ACU) Doctor to provide high-quality medical care to patients requiring urgent assessment, treatment, and monitoring. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing acute and emergency presentations while working closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute medical conditions.
- Provide timely and effective treatment for urgent and emergency cases.
- Monitor and manage patients admitted to the Acute Care Unit.
- Stabilize critically ill patients and coordinate transfers when required.
- Perform clinical procedures within the scope of practice.
- Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in emergency response and on-call duties as required.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date medical records.
- Adhere to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Medical Degree from a recognized institution.
- Valid medical registration and license to practice.
- Postgraduate qualification or relevant training in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Acute Care, Critical Care, Family Medicine, or a related specialty.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years of clinical experience in acute care, emergency medicine, or a similar setting.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to relocate to the Republic of Nauru for the duration of the contract.
