The Opportunity

GTStrack is seeking experienced Vehicle Tracking and Telematics Fitment Technicians to join our approved pool of technicians on an ad hoc/work-as-available basis.

Successful candidates will be allocated fitment assignments as and when installation work becomes available. We are looking for reliable technicians who can undertake professional installations at client premises, fleet depots and other designated locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure and test vehicle tracking devices.
• Install and test dash cameras and video telematics equipment.
• Install and test panic buttons and related vehicle safety devices.
• Identify appropriate vehicle power, ignition and grounding points.
• Perform neat, secure and professional wiring and cable routing.
• Conceal and secure tracking and telematics equipment appropriately.
• Conduct post-installation testing and verify successful device communication.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot installation, wiring and connectivity problems.
• Complete installation documentation, job cards and fitment reports accurately.
• Record vehicle, device and installation information as required.
• Protect client vehicles and equipment during installation.
• Comply with GTStrack installation standards, client requirements and applicable health and safety procedures.
• Attend installations at client sites and other designated locations as required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• A clear criminal record – compulsory.
• Previous practical experience as a vehicle tracking/telematics fitment technician.
• Demonstrable experience installing vehicle tracking devices – compulsory.
• Experience installing dash cameras – compulsory.
• Experience installing panic buttons – compulsory.
• Sound knowledge of motor-vehicle electrical systems.
• Experience working with 12V and/or 24V vehicle electrical systems.
• Ability to identify power, ignition and earth/ground connections safely.
• Ability to use fitment and diagnostic tools, including a multimeter.
• Good fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform neat, concealed and professional installations.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned installations within required timeframes.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Reliability and willingness to accept assignments on an ad hoc basis.
• Ability and willingness to travel to designated client sites.

A valid driver's licence will be advantageous.

Experience with CAN bus integrations, multi-camera systems, video telematics, fleet-management devices and advanced telematics installations will also be advantageous.

Engagement and Remuneration

This is an ad hoc/work-as-available opportunity and not a permanent salaried position.

Successful candidates will form part of GTStrack's approved pool of Fitment Technicians and will be allocated work as installation assignments and projects become available.

Remuneration is rate-based. Technicians will be paid according to the applicable approved rate for each completed fitment or assignment.

The applicable rate may vary according to the type and complexity of the installation, equipment being fitted, project requirements and location. The relevant rate will be communicated and agreed before the technician undertakes an assignment.

There is no fixed monthly salary, and the allocation, frequency or volume of work is not guaranteed.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for technicians who are technically competent, dependable and professional, and who understand the importance of protecting client vehicles while delivering high-quality installations.

The successful technician should be comfortable working independently, meeting installation deadlines and maintaining accurate records of work completed.
