Job description
The purpose of the position is to ensure the efficient functioning of the admissions and billing processes by providing professional and efficient reception, admission, and billing services to patients and the public, ensuring accurate processing and minimising delays in clinical and financial workflows.
CRITICAL OUTPUTS
- Provide professional reception services and assist patients and visitors with enquiries and admissions.
- Ensure the efficient functioning of the reception, admission, and cashier areas.
- Accurately capture patient admissions and ensure all information is processed timeously.
- Ensure all required medical aid authorisations and patient payments are obtained prior to admission.
- Communicate admission procedures, protocols, and financial requirements to patients.
- Process and allocate payments accurately and assist with account-related queries.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of charge sheets and finalisation of patient files for EDI submission.
- Apply ICD-10 codes accurately in accordance with authorisations and estimates.
- Verify billing combinations and ensure all charges are captured within the required timeframe.
- Prepare files for audit and ensure all billing documentation is complete and accurate.
- Report faulty equipment and system issues and maintain password security at all times.
- Assist with stationery and consumable control, stock counts, and ad hoc administrative duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of Grade 12 / NQF Level 4.
- A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an Admissions and Billing role.
- Previous healthcare industry experience will be highly advantageous.
- Experience working on the AS400 system will be advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of medical aid authorisations, admissions processes, and patient billing practices.
- Full computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver's licence and own transport.
- Ability to work in a pressurised, deadline-driven environment.
- Willingness to work overtime and be on call for emergencies when required.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Pay: R10 800,00 - R18 300,00 per month
