ADMISSIONS CLERK

PURPOSE OF POSITION

To provide an efficient, professional and patient-focused admissions service by accurately administering patient admissions and related reception processes; assisting patients with medical-aid and private-patient requirements; and processing deposits and payments securely. The Admissions Clerk supports smooth patient flow, accurate records, effective communication and compliance with JMH policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Welcome and assist patients, visitors, doctors and stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
• Register patient admissions and ensure all information and documentation are accurate and complete.
• Verify medical aid details and obtain required authorizations.
• Process patient deposits, co-payments and private fees in accordance with company procedures.
• Capture and update patient information accurately on the hospital information system.
• Coordinate admissions, bed bookings and patient flow with relevant hospital departments.
• Assist with billing-related administration and resolve admission-related queries.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with all hospital policies and procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service while working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Support switchboard and reception functions as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Computer literate.
• Must have minimum 1-2 years relevant hospital experience.
• Experience with the Delta 9 system is required.
• Experience with medical aids and pre-authorizations is essential.
• Knowledge of the hospital admissions process.
• Must be prepared to do shiftwork (Night shift / Day Shift).
• Switchboard experience is an added advantage.
