Afrikaans Teacher

Imbali Combined School is seeking to appoint a qualified, passionate and dedicated Afrikaans Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Afrikaans instruction, promoting learner achievement, and contributing to the overall academic excellence of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Afrikaans in accordance with the CAPS curriculum.
• Prepare and deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons.
• Assess, record and report learner progress accurately.
• Develop lesson plans, assessment tasks and learning support materials.
• Maintain effective classroom management and a positive learning environment.
• Participate in moderation, departmental meetings and school-based professional development.
• Support learners through extra classes and academic intervention where required.
• Contribute to the school's co-curricular and extracurricular programmes.
• Maintain accurate learner records and comply with all Department of Basic Education policies.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and school management.

Minimum Requirements

• A recognised teaching qualification (B.Ed. or PGCE).
• A relevant qualification with Afrikaans as a teaching subject.
• Current SACE registration.
• Sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning.
• A commitment to learner success and professional excellence.

Preferred Experience

• Previous teaching experience in Senior Phase and/or FET.
• Experience with assessment moderation and curriculum planning.
• Ability to teach an additional subject will be an added advantage.
