Air Freight Import Controller

Key Responsibilities for Air Freight Import Operations:

• Manage airfreight import files from pre-alert to delivery.
• Liaise with agents, airlines, and handling agents for shipment details.
• Track flight arrivals and cargo movement, addressing any delays or discrepancies.
• Secure airline capacity and maintain accurate shipment information.

Documentation, Customs, and Compliance:

• Verify and process airfreight import documentation.
• Ensure compliance with South African import requirements and coordinate customs clearance.
• Assist with Certificates of Origin and other documentation as needed.

Customer Service and Stakeholder Communication:

• Serve as the operational contact for customers, providing timely updates.
• Identify service risks and develop solutions collaboratively.
• Maintain relationships with partners to ensure reliable service.

Financial and Administrative Control:

• Prepare cost estimates and monitor airfreight-related expenses.
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, manage supplier invoices, and support rate negotiations.

Transport and Final Delivery Coordination:

• Coordinate collection and delivery, ensuring accuracy in instructions and requirements.
• Manage specialized cargo handling and keep customers informed throughout.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

• Proven experience in airfreight import roles is essential.
• Knowledge of international operations, customs clearance, and documentation is required.
• Proficient in logistics systems, with strong attention to detail and time management.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-service mindset are crucial.
