Analytics Engineer

We're looking for a contract analytics engineer to own the data layer behind our client work.

Clarivon is a data strategy, analytics, and applied AI consultancy. We help leaders of complex, multi-site organizations turn fragmented data into decisions they can act on.

You'll take messy exports and live APIs from operational platforms and turn them into clean, trusted, documented tables that analysis and reporting can stand on. The founder leads scoping, client relationships, and recommendations. You build the foundation those recommendations rest on.

01 · WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Our clients are multi-site organizations running several operational platforms that don't agree with each other: membership or practice management systems, CRMs, equipment service and asset records, email automation tools, web analytics, and sensor or IoT data. Typical work includes:

CLEAN DATA LAYERS
Pull data from platform APIs and exports, model it, and push clean records back into downstream tools to close sync gaps like missing records, stale fields, and duplicates.

RETENTION AND CHURN ANALYSIS SUPPORT
Build the snapshot tables and cohort labels that churn analysis and predictive scoring depend on, with strict leakage prevention.

OPERATIONAL ANALYTICS INPUTS
Join transactional, visit, and sensor data to show utilization, capacity, and pricing opportunities.

REPORTING INFRASTRUCTURE
Stand up recurring dashboards client teams can use on their own.

PLATFORM MIGRATION
Move prototypes built on tools like Airtable and Retool into production databases with clean schemas and documented keys.

TRACKING AND ATTRIBUTION SETUP
Help clients put clean tracking and source attribution in place before launches and campaigns.

02 · RESPONSIBILITIES

Ingest data from platform APIs and CSV exports, including large check-in files

Build and maintain a one-row-per-customer model with derived status from source records, not cached platform fields

Validate every output before it ships: reconcile row counts and totals against source, test for duplicates, nulls, and broken joins, and document the checks you ran

Write and maintain data dictionaries for every table you ship

Spec field mappings and document sync issues clearly enough to hand to a vendor

Build snapshot tables and labels that support churn analysis and, later, predictive scoring

Build dashboards in Looker Studio, Retool, or a similar tool

Automate recurring data pulls and quality checks

Handle customer data carefully: minimal PII storage, access only with written client approval

Flag data quality risks early and quantify them

03 · REQUIRED SKILLS

3+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a data-heavy analyst role

Strong SQL and Python (pandas or similar)

Experience with dbt and a cloud warehouse or managed Postgres (BigQuery, Supabase, or similar)

REST API integration experience: authentication, pagination, incremental loads

Proven work cleaning and reconciling data across systems that don't match

Clear written documentation habits

Daily use of AI tools (Claude, Copilot, or similar) to speed up builds, with the judgment to verify their output

Detail-oriented by default. Our clients make pricing, staffing, and capacity decisions from these numbers, so you check your own work before anyone else sees it.

04 · NICE TO HAVE

Experience with membership, healthcare, medical device service, CRM, or health-tech SaaS data

Churn modeling or basic ML in Python (scikit-learn or similar)

GA4, Google Tag Manager, or call tracking setup

Experience with data from small or mid-sized businesses where records are incomplete

Extracting structured data from PDFs and scanned documents

Integrations with Salesforce, ServiceMax, SAP, or other CMMS and ERP systems

Consulting or agency background with direct client exposure

05 · ENGAGEMENT DETAILS

You'll work directly with the founder. Scope is written down before work starts, deliverables are reviewed against it, and client communication runs through Clarivon.
