Job description

The Application Engineer is responsible for the technical planning, design, execution, and ongoing optimisation of Black Tower’s Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects. The role spans the full project lifecycle, including site assessments, installation design, equipment specification and procurement support, supervision of installation teams, and post-installation service such as maintenance and repair. The Engineer ensures installations are safe, efficient, cost-effective, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with business and customer needs.

Planning, Design and Engineering

  • Conduct technical site assessments for new and existing EV charging locations, including electrical capacity, civil works requirements, safety considerations, and layout feasibility
  • Develop installation designs for EV charging systems, including charger placement, cable routing, protection systems, signage, and user access
  • Prepare technical specifications, bills of materials, and engineering documentation
  • Support feasibility studies, cost estimations, and project timelines
  • Ensure designs compliance with relevant electrical standards, building regulations, and local authority requirements

Procurement and Equipment Management

  • Specify EV charging equipment, electrical components, and ancillary infrastructure
  • Assist the procurement process with supplier engagement and technical evaluation
  • Coordinate delivery, inspection, and storage of equipment and materials

Installation and Project Execution

  • Manage installation teams, contractors, and service
  • Provide technical guidance and on-site support during installations to ensure designs are correctly implemented
  • Oversee quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project plans and schedules
  • Conduct commissioning and handover activities, including testing, documentation, and sign-off

Operations, Maintenance and Service

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules
  • Diagnose technical faults and coordinate corrective maintenance and repair
  • Troubleshoot hardware, electrical, and basic system-level issues
  • Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and technical documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve system reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency

Stakeholder and Cross-functional Support

  • Liaise with internal teams, including business development, operations, finance, and customer support, to ensure smooth project delivery and system operation
  • Engage with customers, landlords, utilities, and regulatory bodies when required for technical matters
  • Assist with technical input for proposals, tenders, and customer presentations

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial, electrical, infrastructure, or engineering project environments
  • Experience with technical design, installation supervision, or operations support advantageous
  • Exposure to EV charging, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure projects beneficial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Degree or Diploma in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

Minimum Previous Experience:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Good communication and coordination skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel to sites when required
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on safety and quality

  • Very good people and communication skills
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain professional relationship
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management
  • Experience using CRM systems and managing sales pipelines

Languages

  • English (read, write & speak)
