Junior Diesel Mechanic / Apprentice Diesel Mechanic – Fleet Maintenance
Location: Brackenfell, Cape Town
Fleet Maintenance is looking for a hardworking, reliable and motivated Junior Diesel Mechanic / Apprentice Diesel Mechanic to join our growing truck maintenance division.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside an experienced diesel mechanic with over 40 years of industry experience, gaining valuable hands-on knowledge in servicing, diagnostics, fault finding and repairs on heavy-duty trucks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with servicing and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks.
- Assist with engine, gearbox, brake, suspension and driveline repairs.
- Perform inspections and identify mechanical faults.
- Learn advanced diagnostic and repair procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop.
- Use workshop equipment and tools safely and correctly.
- Assist with roadside breakdowns as the business expands.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ practical experience working on heavy-duty diesel trucks.
- Diesel Mechanic qualification is advantageous, but qualified and non-qualified applicants are welcome to apply.
- Must reside within the Northern Suburbs area or nearby.
- Must have own reliable transport.
- Must be willing to work overtime and a shift roster when required, including two Saturdays per month.
- Must possess a Code 14 driver’s licence or at least a Code 14 learner’s licence.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
