Apprentice Intake 2026

An exciting opportunity exists at Metals Vanderbijlpark for six Apprentices within the Engineering Department. The apprenticeship opportunities are available across the following functions:

• 2x Mechanical Fitter

• 2x Electrical

• 2x Fitter & Turner

Key responsibilities include:

▪ Completion of all required theoretical modules for the trade.

▪ Undergoing intensive on-the-job training and other related training.

▪ Providing support to the production process with adequate levels of availability and reliability.

▪ Demonstrating the ability to practically conduct maintenance and installations.

▪ Acquiring problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

▪ Adhering to plant rules, regulations and safety requirements.

▪ Working effectively within a team-based environment.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

▪ Matric with Maths, Physical Science and English as a second language, with a minimum 50% pass mark.

▪ Must provide certificate and results (transcript) for NTC3 (or Higher).

▪ Minimum NTC3 engineering, with relevant trade theory as a subject.

▪ A good engineering understanding at a basic level

▪ Team orientation, be systematic and well organized.

▪ Basic computer literacy.

▪ Good interpersonal & communication skills, positive attitude, able to use own initiative, team oriented, systematic, and well organized.

▪ Ability to work overtime and shifts when required.
