Job Title: Area Sales Manager Inland & Africa
Department: Sales
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About EPLAN

At EPLAN, we shape the digital future of engineering. For over 40 years, we have been a global market leader in software and service solutions for electrical engineering, automation, switchgear design, and industrial process optimization. As part of the Friedhelm Loh Group, our platform supports more than 73,000 customers worldwide in accelerating their engineering processes and realizing the benefits of Industry 4.0.

Role Overview

As an Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth and expanding EPLAN’s market footprint across your assigned territory. You will manage the entire sales cycle—from prospecting and new customer acquisition to cross-selling, up-selling, and deepening long-term strategic relationships with existing accounts.

Using a consultative, value-oriented sales approach (Helping Clients Succeed / Value Selling), you will position our comprehensive portfolio of software licenses, cloud/SaaS solutions, and Division: Professional Services (consulting, training, and customer enablement).

Key Responsibilities

  • Territory Strategy & Revenue Growth: Develop and execute a regional sales plan to achieve and exceed revenue and pipeline targets across new and existing accounts.
  • New Business Acquisition: Identify, target, and convert prospective customers (OEMs, panel builders, engineering contractors, and plant operators) in key industries such as machine building, automotive, energy, and automation.
  • Account Development & Retention: Deepen relationships with existing clients along their engineering and manufacturing value chain; identify opportunities for license expansions, cloud solutions, and consulting services.
  • Solution & Value-Based Selling: Conduct structured discovery meetings with C-level executives, engineering heads, and operational leaders to translate customer challenges into quantifiable business value and ROI.
  • Collaboration with Technical Experts: Partner closely with Professional Services, Pre-Sales/Product Engineers, and Marketing teams to deliver compelling product demonstrations, pilot projects, and workshops.
  • Pipeline & CRM Management: Maintain rigorous CRM data hygiene (Salesforce), forecasting accuracy, deal pipeline tracking, and sales campaign follow-ups.
  • Market Presence & Networking: Represent EPLAN at regional industry trade fairs, customer events, and webinars.

What You Bring (Qualifications & Experience)

  • Professional Experience:
  • Proven track record in B2B sales, account management, or business development—ideally in technical software (CAE, CAD, PLM, ERP) or industrial automation solutions.
  • Experience with consultative, solution-oriented sales methodologies (e.g., Value Selling, Helping Clients Succeed, Challenger).
  • Technical & Industry Understanding:
  • Solid understanding of engineering workflows in machine building, automation, electrical design, or panel building.
  • Familiarity with the EPLAN platform or comparable engineering software ecosystems is an advantage.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation abilities, and closing skills at executive/decision-maker levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-driven, goal-oriented mindset with high self-motivation and territory organization.
  • Languages & Mobility:
  • Fluent in [English / Local Language(s)].
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally to client sites.
