ARTISAN AUTO ELECTRICIAN (CONTRACT)

(BASED AT PUTCOTON IN SOWETO)

The above-mentioned vacancy exists at Truck Centre Durban, based at Putcoton in Soweto. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal applicant will possess the following:-

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified Auto Electrician (Trade Test Certificate).
• Valid code EC driver’s license and PrDP.
• Experience in maintenance of heavy duty vehicles.
• Experience in fault finding and maintenance of an electronically controlled vehicle. management system and heavy diesel vehicles.
• Relevant supervisory experience.

JOB OUTPUTS

• Carry out diagnostic tests to determine faults on Electronically Controlled Vehicle Management systems.
• Carry out electrical and repairs including systems and components.
• Carry out maintenance on Electronically Controlled Vehicle Management system at pre-determined intervals.
• Carry out in-situ diagnostic inspections as part of the maintenance program.
• Supervise subordinates.
• Diagnose problems with major electrical systems in range of commercial vehicles
• Test various commercial vehicles electrical systems for performance and safety
• Overhaul starters and alternators for various diesel engines.
• Strip and assess replacement parts and install new parts.
• Reassemble starters and alternators.
• Test starters and alternators on test bench.
• Electrical fault finding on vehicles.
• Work according to safety regulations and Company policies and procedures.
• Adhere to workshop Health and Safety procedures.
• Handle all related workshop administration.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Normal TCD working conditions apply.

• Electronically controlled vehicle management systems.
• Knowledge of Iveco Product/ Services and specifications.
• Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Knowledge of the bus passenger industry.
