In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for a Fitter Artisan in the Technical Operations Department.

Minimum Requirements

• 2 to 3 years experience mechanical engineering / fitting and turning in industry
• Matric and Mechanical qualification with a minimum of N4 (N6 will be advantageous)
• Mechanical trade test
• Computer literacy, knowledge and experience in Word, Excel and Windows.
• Knowledge of reticulation and control systems, Pneumatics and Hydraulics
• Knowledge in gearboxes, conveyor systems
• Good Knowledge in bearing replacement on Fans, pumps and motors
• Knowledge in pump alignment
• Knowledge of OHS act and its regulations, safety systems and standards.
• Able to work overtime and rotating shifts as required.
• Plant Start up before production and plant switch off after production
• Must be available after hours and weekend work.
• Ability to work at heights / Confined Spaces

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyse mechanical drawings, plan and develop modifications on mechanical systems.
• Root cause and Correct various faults on, mechanical machinery and equipment.
• Fault find using mechanical drawings
• Perform PM tasks as specified for each operation/ equipment.
• Check daily and act if equipment and machines are not in safe working conditions
• Monitor visually overhead equipment rails, hangers, and safety cables daily
• Conduct and record mandatory inspections in accordance with OHS Act and regulatory safety requirements.
• Bearing Inspections, lubrication and greasing.
• Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems.
• Identify unsafe conditions, repair and report immediately.
• Participate in all Maintenance Manufacturing Systems (BPD, SAFETY, TIP, CIP, PM).
• Develop Update Task Instruction Sheets, lockout placards and risk assessments.
• Identify and eliminate waste in the workplace.
• Participate in Energy saving (continuous improvement, problem solving activities)
• Participate in Cost saving suggestions
• Attend to mechanical breakdowns and support production to meet schedule
• Identify ways to eliminate waste in the areas of quality, scrap, uptime, stock reduction, energy, safety, equipment, material, space savings, process efficiency, etc.

Competencies and skills

• Successfully completed a recognised mechanical learnership or diploma with the completion of stipulated practical training within a maintenance environment, automotive industry experience.
• Experience Pneumatics, Hydraulics, pumping systems, conveyor systems, paint transfer and painting systems, HVAC, water treatment and Hoists, Fans and Pumps
