1. BACKGROUND
Vivo Group (Pty) Ltd is seeking to appoint two suitably qualified and experienced Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to participate in the development of assessment instruments for the Occupational Certificate: Imaam, SAQA ID 103264, NQF Level 5, 455 Credits.
The appointed SMEs will be responsible for developing assessment instruments in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF), applicable assessment principles and the requirements of the relevant occupational qualification.
The engagement will be for an estimated 18-month period.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The appointed Assessment Instrument Developer will be responsible for:
- Developing assessment instruments for the Occupational Certificate: Imaam.
- Developing assessment tools aligned to the occupational qualification, its outcomes and assessment requirements.
- Ensuring that assessment instruments are appropriate, valid, reliable, fair and fit for purpose.
- Applying an understanding of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF) in the development process.
- Participating in consultations, technical discussions and review sessions relating to the assessment instruments.
- Incorporating feedback received during the development and review process.
- Preparing relevant reports and supporting documentation associated with the assessment instruments.
- Ensuring that assessment instruments are appropriate to the Islamic sector and the occupational context of an Imaam.
- Working collaboratively with the second Assessment Instrument Developer and the appointed Moderator.
- Participating in quality assurance, review and refinement activities throughout the project.
- Meeting agreed project milestones and submission deadlines over the 18-month contract period.
3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have:
- A minimum NQF Level 6 qualification or higher in Islamic Studies or a related field.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Islamic Studies and the Islamic sector.
- Recognition within the Islamic sector as a qualified Aalim.
4. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
The candidate must have:
- At least 2 years' experience in developing assessment instruments/tools.
- Previous experience in the development of assessment instruments within the Islamic sector or a related field.
- Experience in the development and implementation of occupational qualifications.
- Understanding of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF).
- Facilitation knowledge and experience in Islamic Studies or a related field.
- At least 2 years' experience in Islamic Studies.
- Experience working with assessment instruments, assessment tools and related reports.
5. MANDATORY SUPPORTING EVIDENCE
Applicants must be able to provide:
- Updated CV.
- Certified/proof of NQF Level 6 qualification or higher in Islamic Studies or related field.
- Proof of recognition by the Islamic sector as a qualified Aalim, such as an award, certificate or recognition certificate.
- Two reference letters confirming previous assessment instrument development work within the Islamic sector or related field.
- Details of at least two contactable references.
- Evidence of at least 2 years' relevant experience.
- Evidence of facilitation experience in Islamic Studies or a related field.
6. KEY COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of Islamic Studies.
- Strong understanding of the role and occupational context of an Imaam.
- Assessment instrument development expertise.
- Understanding of occupational qualifications.
- Knowledge of OQSF principles and requirements.
- Strong analytical and writing skills.
- Ability to translate occupational requirements into effective assessment instruments.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to meet strict project deadlines.
