Assistant Accountant

Role Overview:

Flightec is looking for an organised and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our finance

team in Knysna. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing finance professional to gain

broad accounting experience within an innovative aerial survey and technology company.

Key responsibilities:

• Process supplier invoices, creditor payments and day-to-day accounting transactions.
• Assist with debtors, creditors and general ledger management.
• Complete bank, supplier, customer and account reconciliations.
• Process journals and maintain the fixed-asset register.
• Assist with monthly management accounts, budget tracking and financial reporting.
• Support payroll, month-end and year-end processes.
• Prepare documentation for VAT, PAYE, statutory submissions and audits.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support improvements to finance systems and controls.

Education requirements

• A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field.
• Registration or studies towards a SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA or similar professional qualification will be advantageous.

Work Experience

• Two to four years’ relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Practical experience in debtors, creditors, reconciliations, journals and general ledger processing.
• Exposure to VAT, payroll, month-end reporting and audit support.
• Proficiency in accounting or ERP software; Sage Evolution experience is advantageous.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
