Assistant Director: Financial Accounting (Accounts), Ref No. WCMD 33/2026

Job Purpose

The Western Cape Mobility Department, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for a qualified individual to coordinate, review and undertake the implementation of financial accounting systems and procedures in line with relevant legislation, regulations frameworks and departmental policies and procedures. The successful incumbent must be able to work under pressure, willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher) in Financial Accounting or related; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a financial accounting or similar environment.

Knowledge of and working experience with the following, legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions; information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function; Public Service Act, 1994, as amended; Knowledge and understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act; the BAS system; the LOGIS system; Database Management; Information and Records Management; project management; operational management practices; procurement and tendering processes; policy development, and operational management, monitoring and review processes; modern systems of governance and administration; public service procedures, processes and systems; regional and local political, economic and social affairs impacting on the provincial government of the Western Cape; Constitutional, legal and institutional arrangements governing the South African public sector; Knowledge and understanding of public finance, human resources and discourse management processes; Public Finance Management Act,1999, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions, other financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; the functioning of the Province of the Western Cape and the activities of sister departments/related functional areas; the policies of the government of the day; Labour Relations legislation and regulations; Knowledge and understanding of performance management in general.

Remuneration

R 487 197- R 573 897 per annum (Salary level 9)
