Assistant Director: Logistics and Asset Management ( 2 posts available), Ref No. WCMD 49/2026

Job Purpose

The Mobility Department, Western Cape Government, has an exciting employment opportunity for two suitably qualified and competent individuals to coordinate logistics and asset management services in the Western Cape Mobility Department. The successful incumbents must be able to work under pressure, have the willingness to work irregular hours and meet tight deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Supply Chain Management or Financial Management ; A minimum of 3-years related logistics or asset management experience at supervisory level.

A valid (Code B) driving license, or alternative mode of transport for people with disabilities.

Key Performance Areas

Administer and ensure effective and efficient management of movable assets; coordinate the safekeeping and distribution of movable assets and coordination of disposal of movable assets; administer and ensure effective and efficient management of logistics, consumables and inventory management; asset management and logistics management reporting; and managerial functions.

Competencies

Knowledge and working experience in the following: Interpret and implement legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices relevant to the line functions; use information systems that support the management of knowledge and information relating to the line function; develop, implement and monitor logistics and asset management-related policies, plans, reports and processes; administer logistics and asset management processes and procedures; develop, implement and maintain a movable asset register; manage financial processes in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act, 1999, National Treasury Regulations, Provincial Treasury Instructions and other applicable financial policies, prescripts, directives and collective agreements; develop, implement, monitor and review policies and operational processes;

Remuneration

R 487 197- R 573 897 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
