Job description
The Baby Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the Senior Educator in creating a safe, nurturing, calm and developmentally appropriate environment for babies from approximately 4 to 18 months.
The successful candidate will provide warm, responsive and respectful care while supporting each child's physical, emotional, social, communication and emerging independence.
The role is centred on responsive caregiving, attachment, observation, movement, sensory exploration and participation in daily routines, in keeping with the principles of Montessori education for the 0–3 age group.
The Baby Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Senior Educator to ensure consistency in routines, care, communication, classroom presentation and the implementation of the school's Montessori-inspired approach.
The successful candidate must understand that caregiving routines are an important part of the child's learning experience. Feeding, changing, sleeping, dressing, movement and transitions should be approached calmly, respectfully and with genuine engagement with the child.
Please note that this is a temporary six month contract.
