Assistant Manager – Vida e Caffè Gateway Centre
Job Type: Full-time | Location: Gateway Centre, Pretorius Street, Pretoria, Gauteng Pay: R7,000 – R7,500 per month (base salary)
About Us
Vida e Caffè Gateway Centre is looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Manager to help lead our team and deliver the vibrant, high-quality coffee experience Vida is known for.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager with daily operations, opening/closing procedures, and shift coverage
- Supervise, coach, and motivate baristas and shift staff
- Ensure every drink and food item meets Vida’s quality standards
- Manage cash handling, register reconciliation, and stock/inventory ordering
- Assist with staff scheduling to meet business needs
- Train new hires on drink recipes, equipment, and store standards
- Maintain store cleanliness and health/safety compliance
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally
- Act as manager-on-duty when the Store Manager is off-site
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a coffee shop or food service environment, OR 1+ years in a managerial/supervisory role
- Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- Ability to work mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Comfortable with cash handling and basic inventory management
- Food handler’s certification (or willingness to obtain one)
- A genuine passion for coffee and hospitality
