Job description

VACANCY: ASSISTANT MECHANICS – 3 POSTS

Both local and non-local applicants are invited to apply.

Location: Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha)

Project: R335 Motherwell to Addo

Project Reports To: Mechanic

Intertrading Africa (Pty) Ltd invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the positions of Assistant Mechanic (Yellow Plant).

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with servicing, maintenance and repairs of yellow plant, including graders, excavators, TLBs, loaders, rollers, bulldozers and water trucks.
Conduct daily inspections and report mechanical defects and potential breakdowns. Assist with breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance on site.
Check and maintain engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant and other fluids. Assist with greasing, changing filters, hoses, belts and other components.
Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe workshop. Complete maintenance checklists and report work performed.
Comply with all company, project and health and safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric preferred.
Mechanical qualification or relevant technical training advantageous.
Previous experience assisting a Mechanic, preferably on yellow plant/heavy construction equipment.
Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
Valid driver's licence advantageous.
Ability to work on construction sites and respond to plant breakdowns when required.
