About Molo Mhlaba
Established in 2018, Molo Mhlaba Schools is a vibrant and exceptional, independent Montessori school, serving girls aged 3 - 12 years. Molo Mhlaba Schools, is a non-profit organisation that supports young girls with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths) education, early literacy development, physical health education and outreach programmes for children in the Khayelitsha community.
Molo Mhlaba Schools is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and highly skilled Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. We are looking for an exceptional educational leader who is passionate about girls’ education, committed to excellence, and enthusiastic about contributing to a nurturing, high-performing school environment.
As an Assistant Principal, you will play a key role in supporting the overall management of the school, driving academic success, strengthening operational systems, and fostering a positive culture for both learners and staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Postgraduate qualification is an advantage)
- A full, accredited Montessori certification
- SACE registration and valid police clearance
- Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in a school environment (e.g., HOD, Grade Head, AP, SMT role)
- Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, monitoring & evaluation, and performance management
- Strong knowledge of curriculum delivery, CAPS alignment, assessment practices, and academic standards
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and maintain a positive professional culture
- Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills
- Experience working with school management systems (e.g., Google Workspace, school ERPs, data dashboards) advantageous
- Commitment to safeguarding, GIRL-focused education, and inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & School Management
- Support the Head of Education in the daily running of the school, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to school policies
- Manage staff performance, including coaching, mentoring, and conducting classroom observations
- Lead academic planning, timetabling, and curriculum implementation
- Uphold school values, professional conduct, and high performance across all departments
Teaching & Learning Excellence
- Oversee curriculum delivery and academic standards across grades
- Monitor learner performance, analyse data, and implement interventions
- Ensure compliance with CAPS and internal quality benchmarks
- Facilitate teacher development sessions, trainings, and support programmes
School Culture & Environment
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive school environment aligned with our mission
- Support behaviour management strategies and enforce child safeguarding policies
Parent, Community & Compliance
- Manage parent communication, including meetings, reporting, and feedback processes
- Ensure school compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and audits
- Contribute to community partnerships, outreach, and school events
