Job description
A shop assistant (or retail clerk/sales assistant) is a frontline service role responsible for assisting customers, processing sales, and maintaining store, cleanliness, and stock levels. They drive sales through product knowledge, manage merchandise, and often operate cash registers to ensure a positive customer experience. This position is for 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday)
Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering inquiries, and helping locate or select merchandise.
- Merchandising & Stock: Replenishing shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring accurate pricing.
- Cashier Duties: Processing payments via cash or card and managing returns.
- Housekeeping: Keeping the sales floor, aisles, and fitting rooms clean and tidy.
- Security: Monitoring for potential theft and complying with safety policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Communication: Strong verbal skills to assist customers effectively.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with others and handle, often, fast-paced environments.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate pricing and stock organization.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and handle stock replenishment
- Must be willing to work Saturdays and Public holidays
