Aon Re Africa is recruiting a Broker Support Administrator in the Facultative Treaty team based on a hybrid basis, from our Head Office in Sandton.
The primary role of the associate client advocate is to act as a trainee broker and to provide support to brokers by shadowing every facet of their job, including client liaison, administration and marketing. The role includes focused training, development and growth of the individual with the aim of progressing to the level of broker.

What the day will look like
- Assist the Brokers and/ or Executive Head with servicing their portfolio of clients.
- Assist Brokers to provide advice to clients and colleagues on placement design, available coverage and capacity, likely pricing, potential coverage enhancements and market progress within scope of responsibility.
- Work in partnership with the client team to ensure client needs and expectations are met.
- Contribute to ongoing client satisfaction, retention and profitability.
- Assist Broker to analyze clients' reinsurance requirements, collect and analyze relevant information to identify risk transfer solutions.
- Assist Brokers to provide advice to clients and colleagues on the scope of coverage available for different products to establish the appropriate product that meets the clients' reinsurance requirements.
- Assist with reviewing and quality checking reinsurance documentation at a pre-determined stage in the process to establish whether the selected product accurately reflects clients' reinsurance requirements.
- Assist Brokers to ensure a full technical and quality check has been completed on all work.
- Liaise with colleagues on any issues arising.
- Work with other professionals on an individual account, or a portfolio of accounts, to ensure that relevant information is shared among appropriate individuals and required actions are taken to meet clients' needs.
- Assist Brokers to identify appropriate channels for risk placement based on clients' market security guidelines and other requirements.
- Assist Brokers to negotiate terms and conditions of placement with lead underwriters, obtain quotes, and handle underwriter queries and requests for information.
- Assist with completing placement by negotiating with support underwriters, handle underwriter queries and requests for information.
- Assist Broker to create, maintain and manage long-term business relationships with underwriters to enhance service delivery, establish new opportunities for risk placement or facilitate the settlement and payment of claims.
- Support the effective delivery of global service through network relationships, where appropriate.
- Assist in negotiation of terms and conditions for a facility with underwriters, including the negotiation of facility wordings.
- Contribute to supporting business development initiatives, as directed.
- Responsible for the review of market submissions and presentations for new business and as well as renewals to ensure that it effectively sell the client's risk to the market.
- Ensure appropriate staff is aware of all underwriter subjectivities.
- Review status ensuring warranties are met.
- Responsible for Grids input, data integrity and maintenance of records.
- Responsible for engaging in business development and/or contributing directly or indirectly to all business development efforts in Aon South Africa.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Qualifications.
- Grade 12 (matric).
- An appropriate NQF level 5 FAIS /short-term insurance qualification.
- Be FAIS compliant in commercial lines short-term insurance.
- Preferably a relevant bachelor’s degree in insurance and risk management.
- First level regulatory examination for representatives/Be registered with the FSCA in terms of the FAIS act.
Knowledge.
- Basic insurance and reinsurance knowledge preferable.
- Preferably understand African markets in Africa clients.
- Sound business know-how and financial acumen.
Skills and Attributes.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record to work with and in teams.
- Digital literacy with sophisticated experience in MS Word and Excel.
Experience.
- Have 2 - 5 years’ experience in broking/insurance/underwriting/reinsurance environment.
