Job description

The School of Education is globally recognised for its world-class programs in pre-service teacher education, adult education, workplace learning, and higher education. We are committed to offering teacher education that is appropriate to both national and global contexts, of a high quality, and accessible to a diverse range of students.

The School of Education seeks to employ a dedicated individual who will co-ordinate and lecture modules in Curriculum and Education Studies, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise and assess undergraduate teaching practice, and will supervise postgraduate students. The position requires an academic who is willing to engage with curriculum development and delivery and who will play a leading role in teaching and research in the Curriculum and Education Studies discipline.

The incumbent will report to the Head of Discipline.

Minimum requirements
  • A Doctoral degree (NQF level 10) in Curriculum and Education Studies or other related disciplines
  • At least 6 years of working and relevant experience in either teaching, research, or industry.
  • Evidence of current and sustained publication of independent research in quality scientific journals, appropriate for the level (18 - 30).
  • Evidence of sustained and successful attraction of external research grants.
  • A sustained track record of successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels, appropriate for the level.
  • Evidence of national and international recognition in a research area within the discipline.
  • Evidence of strong and sustained academic leadership within the Department / School/ College/ University, which includes mentorship and coaching.
