ATTENDANT: METALLURGICAL PLANT (Grading B2)

Job specification:

• Grade 10, 11 or Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Previous experience within a metallurgical, mineral processing or mining environment will be advantageous.
• Previous experience within a Crushers, Ore receiving, Scrubber, CIL and/or Milling section thickening, smelting. will be advantageous.
• Basic understanding of metallurgical plant operations will be advantageous.
• Ability to understand and follow operational and safety instructions.
• Physically fit and capable of performing manual duties within a plant environment.
• Must be medically fit to work in a mining and metallurgical plant environment.
• Willing and able to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime according to operational requirements.
• Must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of metallurgical plant procedures and systems
• Basic fitting knowledge and hand tools will be essential for participation in maintenance and breakdown of the plant
• Having worked in a gold plant will be advantageous
• A forklift or crane licence will be advantageous
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record

Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the day-to-day operation of equipment within the assigned metallurgical plant section.
• Conducting routine inspections and monitoring plant equipment for abnormalities, blockages, leaks, spillages or unsafe conditions.
• Reporting equipment defects, process abnormalities and unsafe conditions to the process operator or supervisor immediately.
• Assisting process operators with start-up and shutdown activities in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitoring material flow and assisting in maintaining continuous plant operations.
• Assisting with clearing minor blockages and spillages where safe and authorised to do so.
• Cleaning plant equipment, floors, walkways, platforms, and designated work areas is also part of the role.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards throughout the assigned section.
• Assisting with basic operational tasks relating to the scrubber, CIL and/or milling circuits as instructed.
• Checking that guards, walkways and work areas are maintained in a safe condition.
• Assisting with sampling activities where required.
• Supporting maintenance teams during planned maintenance and plant shutdowns when required.
• Ensuring tools and equipment are used correctly and returned to their designated storage areas.
• Communicating relevant plant conditions and outstanding issues during shift handovers.
• Completing basic operational checklists and documentation as required.
• Carrying out lawful and reasonable instructions from the process operator or supervisor.
• Practice and adhere to metallurgical plant policies and procedures
