Attorney 1+ years PQE

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on structuring, negotiating, and documenting complex corporate and commercial transactions, including M&A, joint ventures,strategic alliances, and portfolio transfers.
• Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (supply, distribution, agency, licensing, services, binder, intermediary, outsourcing, and technology agreements).
• Provide regulatory advice on insurance and reinsurance licensing, intermediary regulation, and compliance with South African financial services legislation.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to succession planning within the practice.
• Engage in business development initiatives, strengthening client relationships and contributing to the firm’s growth strategy.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney in the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum of 10 years PQE in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law.
• Demonstrated expertise in insurance and reinsurance law, financial services regulation, and corporate transactions, with the ability to advise on prudential requirements, policy wordings in the insurance sector, insurance-linked transactions, and corporate insurance arrangements.
• Strong academic credentials (LLB required; LLM or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred).
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.

Pay: R850 000,00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Johannesburg, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

• Corporate Commercial Law: 10 years (Preferred)
