Job description
Introduction
Well-established leader is seeking an experienced Auto Electrician (Tail-Lifts & Hydraulic Systems) to join their Phoenix Branch.
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing hydraulic tail-lifts, lifting equipment and vehicle electrical systems, ensuring maximum fleet uptime and compliance with safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Service, maintain and repair hydraulic tail-lifts, column lifts and lifting equipment.
- Diagnose hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults.
- Repair and replace wiring, switches, lockout systems and electrical components.
- Install and repair lighting circuits and basic truck and trailer electrical systems.
- Service hydraulic systems, cylinders and associated components.
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle downtime.
- Conduct system testing and inspections on hydraulic equipment.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs.
- Complete job cards, inspection reports and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all repairs comply with company quality and safety standards.
- Maintain workshop housekeeping and adhere to SHEQ requirements.
- Escalate major repairs where necessary.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- National/Occupational Certificate (NQF Level 2) as an Auto Electrician or Hydraulic Fitter.
- Minimum 5 years' experience working as an Auto Electrician, Tail-Lift Technician or Hydraulic Technician.
- Extensive experience working on Dhollandia, Palfinger and SA Tail-Lifts, including column and cantilever lift systems.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Hydraulic systems
- Auto electrical systems
- Electrical valves and solenoids
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Solar panel systems
- Experience using electrical testing equipment, multimeters and amp/voltage testers.
- Valid Code 08 driver's licence.
- Valid load-test certification.
- Own toolbox and tools.
- Willingness to attend breakdowns and perform onsite repairs when required.
