Master Technician – Commercial Vehicles
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Master Technician with extensive expertise in LCV/Vans . The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining modern commercial vehicles using advanced diagnostic equipment while ensuring repairs are completed efficiently and to manufacturer standards.
This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving complex technical problems, has strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills, and is committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults on commercial vehicles.
- Perform servicing, preventative maintenance, and major repairs.
- Carry out engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, steering, and braking system repairs.
- Diagnose and repair CAN Bus, ECU, and vehicle network faults.
- Perform software updates, coding, calibration, and programming using OEM diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct inspections and identify potential mechanical or safety concerns.
- Complete warranty and technical documentation accurately.
- Support and mentor junior technicians where required.
- Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications and workshop safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Automotive Technician or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
- 5+ years' experience working on Commercial Vehicles.
- Previous experience as a Senior Technician or Master Technician is highly desirable.
- Manufacturer certification from MAN or Volkswagen is advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence (commercial licence advantageous).
Technical Skills
Candidates should have strong experience with:
- MAN and Volkswagen commercial vehicle systems
- OEM diagnostic software and scan tools
- Engine management systems
- Diesel engines and emission systems
- DPF, SCR and AdBlue systems
- Turbocharger diagnostics and repair
- Manual and automatic transmissions
- Electrical fault finding
- CAN Bus diagnostics
- ABS, EBS and ESP systems
- HVAC systems
- Air suspension systems
- Steering and suspension repairs
- Brake systems
- Preventative maintenance inspections
- Vehicle programming and software updates
- Electrical wiring repairs
- Battery management systems
- Hybrid and electric commercial vehicle knowledge (advantageous)
Preferred Background
Experience working within one or more of the following environments:
- MAN / Iveco or VW Commercial Vehicle dealerships
- Heavy commercial vehicle workshops
- Fleet maintenance operations
- Municipal vehicle workshops
- Logistics and transport companies
- Commercial vehicle service centres
