Job description
Job Purpose
Bidvest International Logistics is looking for a Automotive Workshop Foreman to lead and supervise the daily activities of workshop technicians, ensuring all repairs, maintenance, diagnostics and programming are completed safely, efficiently and to manufacturer standards. The Workshop Foreman is responsible for maintaining productivity, quality, accurate reporting, and effective communication between technicians, service advisors, management and the client.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:
Senior certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent
Valid Code 08 Drivers License
Qualified Motor Technician (Trade Test)
OEM Certification (Advantageous)
BMW OEM Technical Training or equivalent manufacturer Technical training (Advantageous)
Experience:
5+ years workshop experience
Supervisory experience within an automotive workshop
Vehicle Handling & Quality
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience
Experience with OEM diagnostic equipment
Key Responsibilities
1. Workshop Supervision
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of workshop technicians.
Allocate work according to technician skill level and workload.
Monitor technician productivity and workshop efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and support where required.
Ensure work is completed within agreed turnaround times.
Reconditioning of approved used vehicles according to BMW standards, reporting any add on parts
2. Technical Support
Assist technicians with complex fault finding and diagnostics.
Perform or oversee advanced vehicle diagnostics.
Conduct vehicle programming, coding and software updates.
Ensure repairs comply with OEM standards and technical bulletins.
Escalate complex technical issues where necessary. (TSARA)
3. Quality Control
Inspect completed repairs before vehicle release.
Ensure repairs and fitments meet manufacturer quality standards.
Reduce repeat repairs and comebacks.
Ensure correct repair procedures are followed at all times.
Ensure good Vehicle storage and handling governance according to the BMW standard
Ensure that all internal projects are achieved
4. Team Leadership
Coach and mentor technicians.
Identify training and development needs.
Conduct toolbox talks and technical briefings.
Foster teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
