Job description
MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Bank Reconciliation
- Run extracts of all iMal transactions for each bank account and update the cash book accordingly.
- Reconcile all iMal entries against bank statements, ensuring transactions are accurately allocated and recorded.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or outstanding reconciling items.
- Prepare and provide bank reconciliations to external auditors and respond to audit queries as required.
ABG Bank limits Reporting
- Update cash balance and interbank placement information for ABG reporting by the 6th of each month.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all reported information.
Inter-system Reconciliation
- Reconcile transactions between the iMal system and the Enterprise Debit Card System.
- Verify that all branch transactions are accurately captured and reflected in both systems.
- Investigate and resolve any differences between the systems.
SWIFT messages
- Verify SWIFT messages as required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and banking procedures.
Monitoring ad Reporting
- Monitor bank charges and interest across all bank accounts.
- Prepare monthly schedules for bank charges and interest, ensuring they reconcile with Power BI reports.
- Identify unusual transactions or variances and escalate where necessary.
Month end schedules
- Prepare month-end bank reconciliations, schedules, and supporting working papers for management review.
- Follow up with branches and relevant departments to resolve outstanding reconciliation items promptly.
- Ensure all month-end reconciliation deadlines are met.
General responsibilities
- Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by management.
- Provide support for finance-related projects and process improvement initiatives when required.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A BCom degree or Relevant Qualification in Finance / Accounting will be required in order to meet the requirements of the role at the highest level of competence
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in banking, with at least 1-2 years prior experience in reconciling of cash and cash equivalents.
