About the Role

ROAM Coffee is looking for an experienced, reliable and customer-focused Barista to join our team at our Long Street café in Cape Town.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about coffee, takes pride in delivering consistently high-quality beverages and enjoys creating a welcoming experience for customers. The ideal candidate should be confident working independently in a busy café environment and comfortable assisting with the general day-to-day running of the store.

Previous experience working with a Sanremo commercial espresso machine and Yoco POS system is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages, coffees and other café drinks.
• Operate a Sanremo commercial espresso machine confidently and efficiently.
• Steam and texture milk consistently to the correct standard for different beverages.
• Maintain excellent presentation and consistency across all drinks served.
• Provide friendly, professional and attentive customer service.
• Take customer orders and process payments using the Yoco POS system.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic coffee station and café environment.
• Assist with opening, closing and general daily café duties.
• Assist with stock counts, stock rotation and monitoring café supplies.
• Ensure equipment, counters and work areas are cleaned and maintained appropriately.
• Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining quality and service standards.
• Assist other team members where required to ensure smooth café operations.

Requirements

The successful candidate should:

• Possess a Barista certifcation
• Have previous barista experience, preferably 1-3 years and experience in a busy café or coffee shop environment.
• Be confident using a commercial espresso machine; experience with Sanremo equipment is preferred.
• Have a good understanding of espresso extraction, coffee preparation and milk steaming/texturing.
• Have experience using a Yoco POS system, or be comfortable learning quickly.
• Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Take pride in cleanliness, organisation and presentation.
• Be punctual, dependable and reliable.
• Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Be comfortable assisting with stock counts and other operational duties.
• Be able to work efficiently under pressure.
• Have a positive attitude and professional appearance.
• Be passionate about delivering a great café experience.
